Happy New Year from the Library!

Whether your new year's resolutions are academic or practical, we have information that can help you! The SWAN consortium of 100 libraries (to which Midlothian Public Library belongs) has purchased a robust collection of online databases for use by member library cardholders.

What's a database? It’s an expertly curated collection of online resources that would normally not be available on the free Internet. Databases typically contain more reliable information than the free internet for school, professional, and personal use. For example...

Looking for sources for a research project? Younger learners can get age-appropriate articles and images from Primary Search or Middle Search Plus, while older learners can get materials from Academic Search Premiere, MasterFILE Premiere and other subject-specific collections.

Looking for practical information you can use? Consumer Reports provides reliable product reviews, Auto Repair Source can help you fix your car, Legal Information Reference Center answers questions on business, family, real estate law, and more, and Small Business Reference Center includes videos, an advice section, and can help you create a business plan.

Looking for reading recommendations? NoveList Plus and NoveList K-8 Plus suggest books for you and your kids and teens based on what you've liked to read in the past. The Core Collections review the best books in any genre for any age group.

How do I get started? To access a complete list of databases, go to OR go and click DIGITAL LIBRARY. You will need your library card number and PIN to login.

Need assistance? Just give us a call at (708) 535-2027 and ask for our Help Desk. Our staff can help you access the resource that will help you most and find the information you need.

Wishing you safety and wellness,
